PulseTech was recently awarded the contract to supply 4 units of LRS manufactured by MKS (Germany) at Karara Mining site in Rothsay, WA. Karara Mining produces approximately 8.3Mtp of iron ore and required a reliable and sustainable LRS solution to support the production capacity of the mine.

The designed LRS (DAFAP85/1700A) is a dual-motor Liquid Starter using the latest drive system with additional safety features to protect the LRS and mill during operation. With a life expectancy of at least 30 years, the LRS is built to last with minimal intervention.

The latest design of MKS LRS includes new features such as:

  • New Drive System – Spindle-less drive chain system (spindle-less) that is nearly maintenance free.

  • New HMI – HMI Interface for LRS monitoring and easy visual reporting.

  • No Bushings – No chances of leaks from worn bushings/seals and improving reliability.

  • Easy Maintenance – Additional valves for easy tank maintenance.

  • Improved Safety Design – Additional safety features such as optimisation of contactor operation sequencing.

  • and many more..

Our scope of work includes the mechanical and electrical design, supply of equipment and commissioning services for the LRS. This project is expected to be delivered by mid 2022 with commissioning till 2023.
